Electric Car Nano-Batteries Aim For 500 Mile Range
Published on September 30th, 2009.
An anonymous reader writes "Consortium members read like a Whose-Who in technology research for the Battery 500 Project which aims to use nanotechnology to extend the range of all-electric cars 200 miles beyond the 300-mile range of gasoline powered cars. IBM, the University of California at Berkeley and all five of our U.S. National Labs are collaborating to make the 500-mile electric car battery. Within two years, they promise to have a new kind of battery technology in place for the 500-mile electric car. If that happens, then I predict a mass exodus from gasoline to electric powered cars that will make the Toyota Prius look like a fad."Read more of this story at Slashdot.

Strategies to Help Choose Your Class in World of Warcraft
Published on September 30th, 2009.
There are 10 different classes in World of Warcraft and they each represent a strikingly different style of play that can suit any number of players in different ways. So when it comes time to choose your class, it can be a bit of a brain racking decision. Here are a few tips that will help make that decision easier and to streamline the class selection process.
Leveling Speed
When it comes to leveling speed, there are some classes that are just better than others at staying alive and leveling up when playing alone. For this reason, if your goal is solely to reach Level 80 before anyone else, it might be a good idea to look into the variety of speed leveling classes that are out there.
At the top of the list is the Hunter. This ranged DPS class is so effective because of the inclusion of a pet and a range of high damage abilities. Because the Hunter never really needs to engage and take damage from an enemy, and because when they do, they can use a variety of abilities like Feign Death to get away from the enemy, it’s quite easy to stay alive with this class, making them ideal for high speed leveling.
Other classes that excel at staying alive include Druids – who are able to heal themselves quite easily – and Warlocks who also have pets and a variety of ways to restore mana and health on their own. On the other hand, some classes, like the Warrior or Paladin take much longer to level because they are strictly melee and must constantly rest and replenish their health and mana.
Role in End-Game Content
Another thing to consider when choosing a class is what role you want to play in the end-game content. Are you more interested in playing something active – such as a tank or DPS – or would you like to be in a supporting role such as a healer. Tanks will most often go with a Protection Warrior spec, though those who want to mix things up every now and then can also choose Paladins, Druids, or Death Knights. DPS players include Hunters, Mages, Rogues, and Warlocks and healers include Shamans, Druids, Priests, and Holy Paladins.
Favored Play Style
The final thing to consider is what kind of character you like to play. If you most enjoy playing a complex, ever changing role, then a hybrid class is best for you. These include the likes of Shamans, Paladins, Druids, and Death Knights who can all switch between healing, tanking, and DPS depending on the role and the necessity.
If you are more interested in a strict, singular role where the rules are set and your moves are relatively static, a traditional class is better for you. This would be something like a Warrior, Priest, Mage, or Hunter – all classes with relatively simple interfaces and straightforward roles in raids.
The goal in choosing your class effectively is to find a character you will enjoy playing for the next few months or years and that will allow you to excel in the ways that you are best at. If you don’t make that decision, you may find that your characters are harder to maintain through leveling and end-game content, if only because it starts to become a chore.

Article Marketing Builds Backlinks and Leads
Published on September 30th, 2009.
Article marketing may be a solution to your problem if not having enough qualified leads at your website. You know your product is good and that it has appropriate pricing. The problem is, you do not have enough people coming to your website to buy from you. Assuming you have set up a website that prospects will respond to, you will need to drive traffic to your website. Article writing can help you to accomplish this. It will be your entry point to free lead generating marketing.
How It Works
Article marketing will help you to build backlinks to your website. These are important for search engine ranking. The higher your website ranks in the search engines results pages (like Google, Yahoo), the more people will find your website, visit and buy from you. By writing and posting articles in the proper places, and along some specific guidelines, you can get these back links in place to start helping you to pull in better, more specific leads.
In order to use article marketing, start by either writing your own articles or hire a professional to do the work for you. The goal is to create content rich articles that are informative, not sales like. You do want to use keyword optimization to help the articles to rank well on article distribution websites.
Once the articles are complete, they can go on article distribution websites or given to other marketers. The goal is to have these articles posted on other websites, with a unique resource box at the end of them, which contains a link back to your own website. Here is an example of how to use this service.
You are promoting a health product for weight loss. You write an article about weight loss methods, incorporating the health product as one solution. You do not want to sell the product through the article, but you may mention it as an option for losing weight. At the bottom of the article, you create a resource box. Within it, you state who you are, as the author, and why you are an expert in the field. Then, you include a link to your website where the reader can learn more.
This benefits you because the link is going to create backlinks to your website on any website that you article is put on. In addition, it allows you to create leads from any of the people that have read the article and now want to make a purchase.
Key Advantages
Article marketing is one form of attraction marketing that is highly successful and easy to utilize. Here are some of the advantages of utilizing it.
• It is relatively easy to do and most online business owners will be able to do it on their own.
• Use already well established article distribution services or websites to make the process faster and less time consuming.
• You become highly visible online. People can find you, what you are offering as well as your website quickly.
Article marketing offers two unique benefits. First, you will improve search engine ranking. Second, you will get more highly qualified leads to your website. All this for writing a well designed article.

Sony thinks its “aspirational” PSP Go might encourage an uptick in PSP-3000 purchases
Published on September 30th, 2009.
We've heard plenty of arguments for high priced products before -- many of them from Sony, oddly enough -- but this has to one of the odder ones. Sony UK's Claire Blackhouse says that Sony was actually expecting a greater backlash from retailers than it got in regards to the PSP Go, and that many retailers are seeing the new launch as a way to get consumers into stores, at which point they'll realize they're too poor for a PSP Go and might end walking out with a PSP-3000 instead. Sadly, the logic sounds pretty sound, though Claire's own suggestions that some families might get a PSP Go for dad and PSP 3000s for the kids seems a little fantastical -- kinda hard for dad to rock those Hannah Montana UMDs, yeah Sony?[Via Joystiq]

Sharp combines its latest LCD improvements in LX series HDTVs
Published on September 30th, 2009.
Coming straight out of a brand new 10G production facility in Sakai, Sharp's line of LX HDTVs (in 60-, 52-, 46- and 40-inch sizes) are all sporting the latest in LCD technology with UV²A panels and LED backlighting. Unfortunately, like Sony, these new screens abandon the higher quality RGB LED technology of the pricey XS1 series for cheaper white LEDs. Still, with a price of around $5,000 for a 52-inch compared to the $12,000 sticker shock of the XS1, it's easy to see why the switch was made. Other improvements include a light sensor for auto-calibration, a six speaker (5 speakers on the 40-inch) integrated 2.1 channel sound system with "Duo Bass" subwoofer and the usual assortment of VOD and AQUOS network support in store for Japanese buyers this November. While already available on a few U.S. models expect the new tech to spread across Sharp's U.S. lineup shortly, not to mention Sony and anyone other parties interested in a piece of the company's suddenly expanded manufacturing muscle.[Via AV Watch & Akihabara News]

You don't get a 'you are here' blinking dot yet — but they do promise to add one next year using WiFi triangulation. At the introduction next month, Micello will only work in California, but they plan to expand to other major US cities during 2010."Read more of this story at Slashdot.
